(1) Winner of the 1982 Masters defeating Dan Pohl in a sudden-death playoff. One-hole playoff victory was the first time the Masters had ended after a single hole. Also third in the 1988 Masters, two strokes behind winner Sandy Lyle. The 2004 Champions Tour Player of the Year collecting a season-high five victories. Three of those victories came in consecutive starts. Captured the Bank of America Championship the same day his son Kevin was winning on the Nationwide Tour. After winning the week before at the 2003 Ford Senior Players Championship, he captured the B.C. Open coming from eight strokes back the final day. Joined Raymond Floyd as the only players to win a regular and Champions Tour event in the same season. Became the fifth oldest player to win on Tour, and the first player over the age of 50 to win since Art Wall in 1975. A total of 13 PGA TOUR titles to his credit including four in 1982 when he finished first on the Tour money list. Also eight Champions Tour and four international victories. Member, 1983 and 1985 Ryder Cup Teams. 1973 US Amateur champion and member of the 1975 Walker Cup Team. Has played in 31 Masters.
