The outside extremities. The fringe. Ambience.

Will Durst

Hey guys. Durst here. And welcome to a preview of my 2008 Masters Tournament blog.

Let me explain what you, Mr. & Mrs. Golf Enthusiast type people, can expect from future dispatches. The outside extremities. The fringe. Ambience.

Imagine me pushing the crease on the outside edge of the embossed envelope that is America's most legendary golf tournament. Kind of a social meteorologist focusing on the aura and atmosphere of the Augusta National Golf Club. I'm not going to be analyzing strokes, criticizing strategy, or evaluating how a particular pin placement affected Phil Mickleson's 3 wood approach on the par 5, 15th, which is good, considering my golf talents are about equal to a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach's advanced calculus skills.

You'll be watching the coverage yourself and reading my cohort's, Tom Spousta, blog: This will be more about the stitching on the embroidered hem of the event. I'll be mixing with the pros, the press, the locals and visiting patrons, while sampling the tastes, sights and sounds that make the Masters such an extraordinary event. For those of you still obsessing about my handicap, it is, as they say, my swing.

Now, all I have to do is get there.

More on Monday.
