Tiger Woods stuck to his statement earlier this year that winning all four major championships in 2008 was easily within reason.
What, you think he’d back off confidently setting a goal for himself?
He can’t win ’em all if he doesn’t win the first, obviously, but to Tiger, it comes down to simple math.
And favorable venues: Augusta National, Torrey Pines (U.S. Open), Royal Birkdale (British Open) and Oakland Hills (PGA Championship) are all courses he either dominates or likes.
“The reason why I said that, is because I’ve done it before,” Woods said Tuesday during his press conference. “I’ve won all four in a row. The majority of my career, nine of those years, I’ve won five or more tournaments, so I’ve just got to win the right four. That’s what it boils down to.”
Woods was referring to the Tiger Slam, which included the 2000 U.S. Open, British Open, PGA Championship and 2001 Masters.
Think the hype has already begun? Wait ’till you see what happens should he slip on a a fifth green jacket here on Sunday.
