It’s the Best Dollar Fifty Sandwich in the World.
And yeah, I’m talking about the green sandwiches. So called, not for their filling, but for their wrappers. A thin gauge translucent green wax paper, sealed to lock in the freshness. The sandwiches sold at the Tunamint are internationally famous not just for their thrifty value but for their dedication to Southern heritage. You think I’m kidding. No. The egg salad sandwich and the pimento cheese sandwich are regional delicacies and have been a tradition here at Augusta since before Gary Player had to shave. In the years since, they’ve added the Masters Club and the Ham and Cheese but the true tournament aficionados know what to order. Egg salad, which as you know is a silky fusion of egg and mayonnaise. And pimento cheese; a combination of processed cheese, mayonnaise and pimentos (duh) on white bread. Got to be white bread. Trust me. Neither of these fillings is going to work with your fancy sun dried tomato basil focaccia bread. I tried one of each and let me say this, they are denture friendly. Specifically designed for those in such a hurry they would prefer to eschew chewing. But unforgettable. Both of them. And not in a bad way either.
