It’s the weekend, it’s the Masters. Time to reshuffle. Time to reflect.
Or just an opportunity to cover some tracks.
I’m looking for weaknesses in the top 12, but these guys look pretty solid.
Nobody fluked their way around Augusta National. Nobody shot 78 one day, 62 the next.
Say what you want about Steve Flesch in third place at 5-under, but he was coming off an even-par opening round.
The Europeans took a hit, but three Englishmen, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey and Lee Westwood, are still in the hunt, all within six strokes of leader Trevor Immelman.
So are three left-handers – Flesch and Masters winners Phil Mickelson and Mike Weir.
Retief Goosen, the only other major winner in the group, figures to be a factor.
Mickelson looks like he’s on a mission, only three strokes behind Immelman, although only four shots ahead of Tiger Woods, who you can never count out.
Who might charge? Who might fade? Who might run out of gas?
Hey, that’s why they call Saturday moving day.
